"Development of family business and self-employment in the field of livestock breeding in villages" project

The goal of the project "Development of family business and self-employment in the field of livestock breeding in villages" is to support the creation of small businesses in new areas of self-employment that bring income to unemployed people. The project is implemented with the joint support of the Azerbaijan Public Employment Agency under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population and the Small and Medium Business Development Agency.

Within the framework of the project, a total of 200 citizens in Balakan, Zagatala, Gakh, Sheki, Oguz, Gabala, Ismayilli, Barda, Aghdam, Aghjabedi, Fuzuli, Samukh regions will be provided with assets related to breeding. The selection phase of citizens has already started. Other requirements for project participants are as follows:

 

  • Must have at least 1-3 years of experience in keeping and feeding breed animals;
  • The minimum dimensions of the building (barnyard) where the animal will be kept should be 3.5x4.5 meters for the animal to move freely;
  • The inside of the barnyard should be plastered so that the animal does not get traumatized when it moves in the stable;
  • The barnyard should be equipped with windows for natural lighting;
  • A ventilation hood should be installed for ventilation;
  • The temperature of the barnyard where the animal is kept should be at the level of 10-25 degrees;
  • The floor of the barnyard should be made of flat concrete and covered with a 3 cm layer of a special rubber coating, peat or sawdust mixture;
  • The special place reserved for feed should be separated by a barrier with a maximum height of 15-20 cm;
  • A special water tank with a width of at least 30 cm and a capacity of 40 liters;
  • The barnyard must be equipped with electricity;
  • There should be a separate space for storing feed and be equipped with electricity for the operation of the forage equipment;
  • A separate hygienic place should be reserved for milking;
  • There should be at least 10 acres of land for animals to walk in the yard;
  • The barnyard is protected from groundwater, swamps, etc. it should be built on a high place, the door of the stable should open to the north;
  • The height of the paws should be chosen in such a way that there is no two-way air current, a dezokovrik (disinfection mat) should be placed at the entrance of the stall;
  • A part of the barnyard should have a place for storing special clothes;
  • The windows of the barnyard should be installed higher than the waist area of ​​the animal;
  • In order to protect the animals from seasonal diseases, they should be bathed 4 times a month, and a sprinkler should be provided for this;
  • There should be a special place for active walking of animals;
  • Animals should be provided with coarse, strong and mixed juicy feed.

 

The selected participants will be given business training and those who successfully complete the training will be provided with productive breeding animals (2 Simmental/Swiss breed) and equipment (milking machine, primary feedstock, forage crusher). After being provided with assets, the participants will be provided with mentor support for the development of entrepreneurial activity and assistance for expanding access to sales markets.
