UAFA

United Aid for Azerbaijan (UAFA) was established in 1998 to support issues related to education, health and children in Azerbaijan. The organization maintains cooperative relations with a number of state bodies in Azerbaijan, including the Azerbaijan Public Employment Agency.

Azerbaijan Public Employment Agency together with UAFA, started the "Məktəbim" project to support unemployed women who are interested in pre-school preparation work with children and who want to start their own business in this field.

The project was implemented according to the Memorandum signed by Mustafa Abbasbayli, the Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Public Employment Agency, and Gwen Burchel, the head of UAFA, for the purpose of cooperation between the two institutions.

The project is a social business model to open non-profit community-based preschool groups by empowering women through introducing a female-led, child-centered, inclusive preschool model. During the implementation of the project, the registration of unemployed women wanted to benefit from this project was carried out, and for the women who successfully passed the selection stage, UAFA provided training on preschool education methodology. At the last stage, citizens involved in business training were provided with assets by the State Employment Agency upon successfully completing the training.
